Slashers Rain out in El Dorado

Slashers contest on Tuesday night was rained out. They will attempt a double header on Wednesday.

CJ Maffei through 8 innings giving up 6 hits and 1 walk allowing 3 earned runs. McGinnis had 3 hits and Walton hit a Grand Slam.

Slasher Schedule Changes

The Slashers contest against Chillicothe on July 2nd will be played at Crowder College in Neosho. The Slashers will cancel the two individual series with Mac & Seitz on July 4th and July 22nd due to the opponent needing those date for rainouts.

Slasher were outlasted by Derby 8-7

Slashers have 3 ex-players Drafted in 2008

Pitcher Tyler Kelsey was signed as a Free Agent by the Toronto Blue Jays. Tyler is currently pitching for rookie-class Gulf Coast Blue Jays. Pitcher Matt Frevert was drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals in the 28th round (845th overall). Matt is currently pitching for rookie-class Johnson City Cardinals. Pitcher Mace Thurman was drafted by the Cincinnati Reds in the 19th round (569th overall). Mace is currently unsigned and pitching for the Rochester Honkers in the Northwoods Summer League.

Slashers Return Home After 6 Game Road Trip

Slasher return home to face the Derby Twins after a 6 game road trip to western Kansas. The Slashers started the road trip in Hays hoping to build off the winning series against the Broncos. On the 20th the Slashers out lasted the Larks in a pitching duel 2-1. Ben Hays worked 6 strong innings allowing 1 run on 7 hits. On the 21st and the 22nd, the dropped the remaining two games of the series 11-6 and 8-1 respectively.

Slashers then headed to Liberal for a three game set with the BeeJays. The Slashers lost the opening game in the late innings 10-4. The Slashers dropped the second game of the series 11-7. The Slasher managed to salvage a split by winning the rubber game 7-2.

Slashers Take 2 of 3 from El Dorado

Slashers defense and pitching holds tough for the second night in a row with a 3-2 win over the Broncos. DH Joe Walton led the offensive strike with a 2 run homerun. Tom Luce earns his second win of the season pitching 6 innings scattering 7 hits, fanning 5 and walking 1. He allowed one unearned run. Cruse pitched 2 2/3 frames allowing one unearned run on 1 hit. The Slashers leave Thursday for a 7 day road trip to Liberal and Hays.

Joplin Breaks Losing Streak with Shutout of Broncos

Slashers slow the recent slide with a 6-0 shutout of the El Dorado Broncos. The performance was led by a strong pitching performance by Maffei, Morgan, and Feneis. Maffei and Morgan pitched 4 frames apiece with Feneis closing the Broncos out in order. Kreiser led the hitting attack with a single and a double and scoring 3 runs. Walsh, Doyle, and Walton each had 2 hits.

Last Inning Rally Falls Short

Slashers rally back to score three in ninth but lose to Brocos 6-3. Slashers ended with 8 hits with 5 in the last two innings. But errors proved costly as Joplin bats continue to struggle. Cody Kelly started on the mound, pitched 5 frames allowing 5 runs, 3 earned striking out 4 and walking 3. Colin Feneis worked 3 scoreless frames allowing only one hit.

Nevada Battles Back to Take Game

Nevada rallies back in the 6th inning with 3 runs to take the game 5-2.
